History

The tavern “Los Chanquetes de Pedro Miguel” is located in the neighborhood of Las Letras in Madrid, in a building which was built in 1857. it is found In the number 2 Moratín Street, and being a neighbor of the streets of Cervantes, Lope de Vega and Quevedo.

Los Chanquetes has spent nearly four decades serving their best food to both neighbors and illustrious personalities from show business to the world of bullfighting . You can enjoy the small bullfighting museum inside which welcomes visitors as well as the lively gatherings held each afternoon and after bullfights which come together in this establishment.

Los Chanquetes owes its name to a time when the consumption of this little fish (Whitebait) from Malaga was allowed and was made their specialty. It has always been known for its home cooking. From the beginning Carmen Puentes made sure that their dishes were made with classic homemade recipes and of course with lots of love. The OXTAIL STEW was its first hit, after which followed dishes such as croquettes or Madrid-Style tripe

In 2011 the family retook the management, this time under the leadership of their son Pedro de Miguel Puentes, who is committed to maintain the style of the tavern as in the past, but with the addition of some innovations of the 21st century cuisine. Wines by the glass at the bar of new denominations of origin or gin and tonics with your own preparation will be some of the new things that can be seen from September on wards.

Los Chanquetes is grateful to all those people who after nearly 40 years continue to rely on our good work.
